VLADIMIR McTAVISH at Ceol Mor – Friday, March 25

With extensive writing credits in theatre, TV, radio and print journalism and straplines that feature superlatives such as his “Scythe-like wit, in this case the term “genius” is justified; too good to miss” the attraction of being in Ceol-Mor, Inverness on Friday, March 25 from 8:00pm will be too much to resist for the thinking comedy fan – Vlad is also known for playing the outrageously funny character of Bob Doolally alongside Frankie Boyle in the BBC Scotland’s memorable “Live Floor Show “ of a few years ago and has regularly been a sell out in the Edinburgh Festival for many years. What a cracking booking this is for the monthly Stand-out Stand-Up Comedy at Ceol Mor.

MC for the evening is the very capable and talented JoJo Sutherland – a regular MC at The stand and various other comedy venues across Scotland, IgiGs rather suspects that this experience will helps generate a warm and dynamic atmosphere for the evening – oh and remember to switch off your mobile phones when you are at Stand-out Stand-Up – IgiGs found this in lurking in one of JoJo’s rants on her blog – do not say you weren’t warned!

“We seem to have become incapable of functioning unless we have our trusty mobile mate by our side at all times even when we are out with real live walking talking friends we have to keep checking the mobile mate and if there is one thing that pisses me off is the friend i’m trying to talk to constantly checking their phone – STOP IT!”

Support for the evening from

Daniel Webster who began performing stand up in October 2007 and quickly made a name for himself as a Quarter Finalist in the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year in Edinburgh in February 2008 and consequently graduated from the Fit o’ the Giggles comedy course run by Keara Murphy in March 2008. Within 6 months, Daniel had won the Breakneck Comedy New Act prize in April 2008.

Niall McCamley is an Irish graduate based in Edinburgh and a part of the We Happy Few, comedy collective of stand-up and sketch writers and performers in Edinburgh.
For the uninitiated, We Happy Few presents a new night of original, eclectic and daring comedy each month – to his eternal credit however, Niall has the least facial hair of We Happy Few

Will Richards IgiGs has a tip for Will, who we know nothing about whatsoever and can share the surprise that he will bring alongside our fellow comedy fans – Will, for God’s sake man, make your name a little more distinctive  our quite extensive search for your biog and press generated exactly nothing. Harrumph! performs character comedy under the far more memorable name of “Sir Reginald Tweedy-Duffer”.  It’s a relatively new act and so there is not a lot on the web yet, but Will has a twitter account ( @TweedyDuffer ) and there is a some footage of my act on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5_Oovn_1nQ ), along with brief details of the character.

Fair play to Will / Sir Reg for getting in touch to solve that mystery!

Anyway, we look forward to sharing a fabulous evening of cheery banter in what is quickly becoming a cracking comedy venue – the problems that came with the sound that marred the first night are long solved and the quality of the stand up on show is genuinely exciting! More power to Ceol Mor for this level of line up.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
