We don’t normally cover T in the Park announcements but given that most of them have played (or planned to play) in the Highlands recently, we thought it was worthy of a mention. The list includes Jon Fratelli, Emma’s Imagination, Roddy Woomble , Twin Atlantic, The Phantom Band and Big Country.

With the exception of Big Country, who are signed to support Simple Minds in Summer in the City in July, the rest of the announced acts would have sat quite nicely in future announcements for any of the local festivals. Given the normal contractual tie-ins to T in the Park, this makes other Scottish festival performances unlikely (not impossible). Given the positive responses that the likes of Emma’s Imagination, The Phantom Band and Twin Atlantic have had in the area, it is a bit disappointing but at the same time great for bands to get a different break.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
