Hi and welcome to Rhythmnreel’s May catch up.

We’re starting to get busy again after quite a relaxing start to the year, well for us anyway. The second half of our year always seems to be much busier. It’s all good. Without wishing way the summer (wherever it has gone), can I just mention that we are again taking up residence in the Colyumbridge Hotel in Aviemore for their Friday and Saturday Christmas party nights throughout December. These are great events with a cracking dinner, dancing with yours truly, a disco and then staying over in the hotel before heading home next morning after a swim in the hotel pool – unless you find the same all night party as the band! If you are planning a work night out at Christmas, I know where I’d be going!

For now, we’re just back from Germany where we had a couple of gigs and a great few days making new friends and catching up with old ones. There is some talk of us getting into the European festival circuit for next year. Fingers crossed! Our new van is making these longer trips a much more comfortable proposition. No more squeezing into the back of the old transit!

Exciting news for us just now is that we are going into the studio to begin recording a new CD. We have some fiddle/pipe sets and some songs waiting and will hopefully try them out on you over the summer. Having said that, CDs take time and we suspect it’ll be into next year before it is finished.

We are also reviewing our merchandise and will have new look t-shirts, hoodies and maybe even some new and erm, unusual items. We are hoping we’ll have these ready for July. Please give us feedback on whether you like the new logo or if we should try different colours – they’re your t-shirts! We’ve just taken possession of a set of kilts for the boys when we’re away. Various options have been suggested for the girls, all of which have been blanked!

We are chuffed to be playing at the Ironworks, Inverness again on 9 July. Tickets are £7 plus booking fee. We are looking forwards to another great night.

I should finish off by reminding folk to find us at facebook and to upload any photos or videos of either you or us at gigs.

Slainte,

RNR

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
