Fair to say it’s going to be a busy and high profile weekend (indeed month) for local band The Side. The band are just back from Luxembourg where they supported Texas at the Rock Um Knuedler Festival, indeed Sharleen Spiteri described them as having had “a great performance, a modern day Elvis Costello and the Attractions”. (you can see more of the performance here)

Saturday the 16th of July sees a double performance, the first being supporting Big Country and Simple Minds as part of the goNORTH festival tour 2011, accompanied by Gogobot. Then it’s off to headlining the Simple Minds after-show party at the Ironworks (inspirational booking by whoever organised that btw). Everyone with a Summer In The City 2011 ticket will gain FREE entry, with additional tickets available from Ironworks for £5.00.

On Sunday it’s the official release of The SIde’s new single “Lost and Found” on Sunday 17th July on their own label No Bover Lut, the song will only be available from I-Tunes. The song is taken from the bands new EP, which is planned for release in August.

The following weekend the band will play the goNorth Stage at the Wickerman Festival in Dumfries in Galloway on Fri 22nd July. All 3 of these events are part of goEvents summer festival tour.

The band will also return to play this years B Fest up in Wick on Sat 20th August (for a preview see here)

You can read more about the band when we asked the boys a few questions.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
