The stage will be delivered in partnership with Netsounds Unsigned and invernessGiGs, Jamie Macdonald (Netsounds Unsigned Co-founder) explains “The Local Heroes Stage will shine a spotlight on the diverse array talent that is emerging through the Inverness music scene. We are delighted to be staging this showcase in association with goNORTH and we hope it will further illuminate our local heroes.”
So who are these local heroes that we talk of (on top of the previously announced acts)?
Well first off the list(in no particular order) is He Slept on 57, the Inverness based trio will bring their brand of what Hercules Moments described as “dynamic pop”. Their 2011 EP release ‘Childsmile’ is still winning fans including Rick Fulton of the Daily Record who described it as “Ripped up fuzz-faced guitars slams you into a wall of sound as the beat swaggers like a sweaty gorilla”.
Second is Naked Red, certainly evolved and redefined over the years bringing in a combination of styles a clear mission to intrigue and entertain whilst genre jumping, as the band said themselves (in a recent interview) “It has no right to work it really shouldn’t work at all”.
Third is James Mackenzie whose hard working ethic and addictive tunes will see him tour from London to Inverness in May, having already supported the 1930s in their Scotland and England tour earlier this year. If things go to plan he will be opening the main stage of Belladrum 2012.
Last but by no mean least is, recently announced for CockRock, ROADWAY, Ross MacEwen said of the announcement “The Local Heroes event will give the audience an opportunity to see a bill of bands who may not normally perform together, come forth and represents the Highlands and some of the great work that is coming out of the area.” Looking forward to the event Ross explained “ I can speak for all the gents in the band that we in ROADWAY are very happy indeed to be part of the event, and will certainly be giving it our all come the night!!”
Needless to say anything that helps boost the profile of local bands is welcomed with both hands and we look forward to supporting the night whole heartedly….
