Perhaps it’s no surprise that Cassidy found his way to music given his father’s influence, he explained in an interview with Peenko “he is a multi instrumentalist and has always been in bands since I can remember. He bought me my first few guitars and there was always a piano in my house growing up.” There is certainly a personability about him, Ravechild acknowledges; “there’s a real feeling of him being one of your mates; it makes his music all the more relatable and human to the growing audience for alternative folk.”

“Battleships”, his debut single came out in November last year and bodes well for his, Calum Malcolm produced, first album. Recording for the album, which features Aidan O’Rourke (lau) on fiddle, Liam Bradley (Van Morrison) on drums, has now finished. Whilst 2012 has been been busy, with festival appearances at T in the Park, Wickerman, goNORTH and Boardmasters along with support slots for Ben Howard and Frightened Rabbit (to name but a few), 2013 is promising to be no to shoddy either.

Having already played Celtic Connections this year, the aforementioned album and a hot off the press SAMA nomination for best acoustic act, the future does indeed look bright.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
