Mad Hatters hosts a triple bill of local acts on the 17th of January, 2014.

First on the bill are Naked Red, “Loud, melodic rock from the North”, fresh from an impressive slot at the  Clutha Fundraiser Weekend. It’s been a while since we last reviewed the band, indeed going back to the Summer Showcase where our reviewer emphasised the band’s strengths “Throughout their set they displayed impressive musicianship as big solos were flaunted.” The band recently released an early version of “Dogs And The Snow” with the promise that the completed version is not far off.

Boasting up-beat acoustic tunes, Cryptic Keys  consist of Dail MacDonald and Rhia Innes sharing vocal duties with Mike MacGillivray on acoustic guitar. The band quote influences  such as The Civil Wars, Boyce Avenue and Ray Lamontagne they boast a fresh sound for a band that starting gigging late in 2013.

Recent winners of round one of the Eagle Bar Battle of the Bands and purveyors of  original acoustic/rock music Bring Back VHS finish off the line-up.

Doors are at 9.30 pm with music starting at 10.00 pm.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
