Idlewild have announced a series of gigs in the locality for September 2014.

Alerting fans by last month via Twitter that an eighth studio album was on it’s way, Roddy Woomble et al will be touring for the first time in four years. Easily earning the mantle of one of Scotland’s most successful indie rock bands, Idlewild will take an acoustic, stripped back format to some unique and intimate settings that include Strathpeffer Pavilion , Findhorn and the Woodened Barn.

The aim of the gigs are to give them a “chance to explore their back catalogue, to try out new songs and ideas, and to generally have some fun playing music around this beautiful part of Scotland.”

Expect the guys to be touring with a full electric show to coincide with the aforementioned album launch

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at
