The Oxides announce that they are having a final performance at Mad Hatter’s following the Hogmanay announcement that they are splitting up.

Catching up with the band in Spring 2014, following a change in personnel,they had impressive ambitions for releasing material, which unfortunately never quite came off. To be honest capturing the chaos and majesty of front man Jake Bolt in a recording could prove a mighty challenge.

Indeed from BFest to Belladrum, from goNORTH to Liverpool’s Cavern Club the band have kicked up a storm wherever they have gone. Headlining the North Hop Festival in August our reviewer, and long standing fan of the band, emphasized the attributes of the band;

“Tonight there was no escaping The Oxides; volume cranked up ,they were the equivalent of shaking up a can of Tennant’s Super (other super strength lagers are available) sticking a hole in it and lobbing into the middle of a beer festival.”

Jake, informed folk that the end was nigh, in an emotional post on New Year’s Eve;

What to expect at The Oxides final gig? Who knows? but did you ever know what to expect when The Oxides played?

Catch The Oxides on Friday the 16th of January, 2015 at Mad Hatters.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene.In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
