Scotland’s leading creative industries conference and showcase starts it’s search for the next ‘big thing’ in film, writing and music.

XpoNorth 2016 saw 106 films, 66 bands and 26 writers selected to showcase, with applications being consistently high year on year the opportunity to win the attentions on some of the 2000 delegates is much sought after.

XpoNorth director Amanda Millen reflected “Every year we are always overwhelmed – in a good way – by the amount of submissions which are received across the board. There’s a lot of people out there creating high quality films, music and pieces of writing but the important part is getting that work in front of a discerning audience. That is often the difference between success and failure and it’s what XpoNorth does so well.”

XpoNorth, which is funded by Highlands & Islands Enterprise (HIE) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), will see the the conference element return to Eden Court Theatre. The music showcasing will be held in the evening at venues throughout Inverness city centre.

Delegate registration, which is free, is opened now and organisers are inviting anyone with an interest in pursuing a career in the creative industries to sign up.

The submission window to showcase at this year’s XpoNorth opens Wednesday 25th January and closes on Saturday 1st April.

XpoNorth 2017 conference happens on the 7 and 8th of June, although has a year round remit, you can see full details on the XpoNorth website.
