Little Buddha attracted a decent amount of people into Madhatters on what was a musically busy Inverness night – they  kept the gaze and ear of the assembled crowd with a mix of stage presence, a rhythmic and captivating sound (credit to the sound engineers for keeping a potentially difficult to manage sound  really well balanced) and some damned fine tunes actually!! The set list was a mix of tracks from the beautifully produced songs from the debut album TWISTED and some others that were new and unheard in these parts at least – definate highlights in the set were the opening song titled Karma? and the stripped back and almost ethereal version of Beautiful which demonstrated not only Kat’s unique vocal work, but also the magnificently precise bass rhythm generated by Grant.

It would have been difficult for anyone with an appreciation of musical talent not to have been impressed by this band – they collectively present a well rehearsed and tight band and allied to their trippy rock hop sound were genuinely interesting to watch and listen to – if you missed this superb gig in Madhatters, check out the songs on the link below and without prejudice, listen to something that is pretty incomparable to be honest – it has very clear jazz and dance roots, but is obviously very heavily influenced by the cinematic soundtrack genre – this is music that has very clear evidence of the influences that underpin it, however there is a refreshing uniqueness and honesty that is to be savoured – enjoy!!

A Scottish promoter and label owner known to your correspondent described Little Buddha as being ” Scotland’s best kept musical secret” – on this form, that won’t be the case for terribly much longer Mr Campbell!!

  1. Ray Verma says:

One of the best bands to emerge from Scotland in the last decade. People mention Travis, Glasvegas, Mogwai, Wet Wet Wet, The View….LITTLE BUDDHA are next to be mentioned in the same breath. Their sound is designed to make you stand up to attention, take stock of what you have, and leave you in devastating awe…begging for more.
