invernessGiGs is the biggest music based website based in the Highlands, it’s heart is strongly based in supporting local music and events based in the Highlands. Our magazine style approach allows us to provide cross genre music news, reviews and interviews.
We are looking for committed writers and photographers who wish to build or consolidate experience in writing articles.Writers must have an interest in the music scene and in particular we are looking for those with specific interest in acoustic, traditional, club/dance, comedy/stand up and also .the local scene in general.
We are looking for writers who can contribute, a minimum of 2 articles a month, writing to a good standard and able to meet tight deadlines, in a professional manner. Ideally writers will be in the area, however it is not insurmountable if you live outside the area, please contact us to discuss.
For photographers, we are looking for photographers who have built up a portfolio and have some experience in the area (additional benefits include opportunity to advertise through watermarks and links).
In exchange we offer the opportunity to have your contribution seen by a large local and national audience and provide good links into the music scene in the area. We will administer issues regarding press passes for gigs and festivals, access to acts etc. You will get experience of working in a team (albeit virtually) of like minded individuals. (you can see some of the team invernessgigs.co.uk/contributers).
Positive feedback from our contributors has come from the likes of Fish, Dave Clark, Vintage Trouble and Kassidy, as well as industry professionals.
This is a non-paying post which will give you additional experience and confidence in a very competitive profession. Anybody interested can you please email us with, two examples of your writing (or link to website for photographers) and a brief summary of your experience and musical tastes.Emails should use the subject heading ‘Contributors’ to email@example.com.
