With the last night of their residency at Hootananny imminent, and of course the slot at the Red Hot Highland Fling on the 31st of December, it’s a good time to catch up with Hoodja…. Hoodja seem to be getting everywhere recently, how do you explain the bands popularity? We always have good craic when performing and I think people react to that, we’re not afraid to go a bit mental. The upbeat nature of the style of music we play has a lot to do with it, the blend of modern and traditional music is always appealing. We’ve been working pretty hard this summer, trying to play anywhere and everywhere we can. What has been the highlight of the band’s summer? Our highlight this summer was getting the opportunity to play the main stage at Belladrum festival. What are you current plans? We’re got a lot of gigs over the Christmas period and we’re thrilled to be playing at the Red Hot Highland Fling at the Northern Meeting Park in Inverness for Hogmanay. Ultimately we’re working on writing more material and getting an album put together. If people have not heard you before, what song would you recommend that they listen to, and why? We’d recommend you check out our website and have a listen to our tracks. You can get an idea of what we do from there. Have you got anything to plug? You can visit our site at hoodja.co.uk, there you can find some of our tracks and a YouTube clip. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter. We’re planning on releasing some more material very soon so stay tuned. :) Thanks to Hoodja for their time.
