How are you feeling about the forthcoming Showcase gig?

I’m actually really looking forward to getting back on stage, especially after nearly a year’s absence from the live circuit! I’m also really looking forward to seeing what Toecutter and Seed Of Sorrow have prepared for the night.

In a genre that appears to be dominated by bands, what are the challenges of being a solo artist?

I’ve never really let it phase me, to tell you the truth. Performing as a solo artist was started by the lack of musicians who were prepared to take on such an extreme sub-genre (blackened death metal). Having full creative control in the writing process is also a big positive, although it has had its challenges!

You have mentioned about starting recording in June, how is that going? And what are the plans now for a release?

Ah, yes! The, ever elusive, new record I’ve been trying to write for nearly 2 years now…slowly, but surely is probably the best way to describe it! Although, I can definitely say I’ve been in the best mindset, creatively, that I have ever been in for a good while…I’m hoping to debut some new material at the Showcase, in fact! As for a release date, I’m no longer making any promises as it keeps getting put back and put back…

How are you enjoying your radio show (Mr Desecrators Eardrum Desecration Show) and how has the response been to it?

I’ve really been enjoying my time with ABC Radio Alness, bringing the masses an hour of, what I believe to be, the best in Scottish hard rock and metal, every Thursday night. The response is certainly a reflection on my own enjoyment of doing the show, and the feedback has been tremendous!

What music are you listening to at the moment?

Everything that I’ve been playing on the radio show. That and I’ve been on a bit of an Emperor fix, as of late! Other bands I’ve been listening to recently are the likes of Death Tyrant, Ghost and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

What’s next on the agenda for you music wise?

The eventual release of the new album, more or less. Plans to start performing regularly once more is also definitely on the cards!

Anything else to plug?

I think that just about covers it; new album and hopes of new gigs!  However, if you love your metal, I highly advise you turn up to witness a glorious night of it at the fifth Summer Showcase night, featuring yours truly, alongside 2 of my favourite Highland metal bands!

Catch him on Facebook, Bandcamp and @KeramDesecrator on Twitter

He will be joining Toecutter and Seed of Sorrow (who spoke to us a while ago) on the Showcase bill on the 8th of August, 2013.

Tickets for the Showcase are available via The Ironworks or from the acts direct.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me direct at chris@igi.gs
