All Hat No Cat are Adrian Telfer, chiefly on guitar, harmonica and vocals and his wife Lucy on flute. Adrian is a self-styled minstrel and raconteur with a trademark hat and the overt reference to Dr Seuss is in keeping with much of the material.

We are treated to quirky stories and auto-biographical lyrical content that serve to really enhance this intimate setting and which leaves you with a sense of having just spent time with someone you know well. The combination of voice, guitar and flute works particularly well, and the harmonica isn’t too shoddy either.

An attentive audience seemed relaxed and having been entertained, left in good spirits.

Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
