Review of Roberto Cassani and the Tickety-two on the Potting Shed at Belladrum, 9th of August, 2014.

My two favourite instruments just might be the cello and the one that looks the same but is slightly bigger – Roberto Cassani slaps the slightly bigger one. What’s not to like about the double bass? Same again, what’s not to like about Roberto Cassani and the Tickety-two?

Roberto manages one of the most difficult of musical magic tricks, to provide great music with really humorous and witty observational lyrics.

You’ll find yourself smiling, laughing, tapping your feet and maybe even starting to dance and shuffle about (whether you want to or not!). There is often genius lurking around the Potting Shed, Bella 2014 was no exception.

Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
