New live music night to be launched at Mr G’s in October.
HighWired will feature four acts, combining local and Scottish wide talent. For it’s debut, the event will host 3 SAMA nominated acts;
Vladimir supporting The View in March
Vladimir supporting The View in March
Headliners for the night are Dundonian quartet Vladimir , who we caught when they supported The View earlier this year, nominated for a SAMA in 2014 for the Best Rock Alternative category. They’ve supported the likes of the Twilight Sad and recently were on the bill with The Libertines after gaining the favour of Pete Doherty. We highly recommended them when they supported fellow Dundonians The View earlier in the year, it’s unsurprising that they are visiting the area again. They will be joined by “Riff Rock” duo, Huxtable , aka Jordan Yates and William Brown. Latest EP ‘It’s a Trap’ was described by Music Scramble as “When you press play, it comes out of the traps like a whippet chasing a scalded cat.” The Kilmarnock based act, certainly tick the high octane boxes, check out ‘Shut Up’ which is a great example of what they do so well (see below). It’s perhaps unsurprising to catch Lionel also on the bill, one of Inverness’ most fancied bands, last seen in the area playing North Hop. Whilst well established on the local scene have been recognised nationally with a nomination for Best Newcomer at the SAMAs this year. Recently being announced as one of a trio of acts on the IMOUT label, they played Glasgow this month, with an Edinburgh date planned for October. Opening proceedings will be Billy Mitchell frontman for Dundee rockers Krooked Saints. HighWired will debut at Mr G’s on the 1st of October, 2015. Tickets priced £5 are on the door. Doors at 8:30pm.
