Alabama 3 head up new additions on the line-up for the returning Ullapool festival.
They’re back! After last year’s unhappy news that Loopallu was to be no more, the organisers have turned things around and the festival has risen like a phoenix from the ashes to proclaim that the ‘best little fest in the West’ is still very much alive and kicking. The first lineup announcement is here and I think you’ll agree it’s a bit of cracker. We’ll let Loops do the talking from here…
First, by phenomenal demand and needing no introduction, we welcome the return of the one and only Alabama 3
; making their Loopallu debut with a set packed with hits are indie legends The Bluetones; and expect the incredible from Brighton’s British Sea Power
whose live shows are infamous.
Loopallu has had a history of great punk and ska acts over the years, and this year is no different as we have not one, but two legends from the scene. Buster Bloodvesse
l will undoubtedly lead Bad Manners and the audience into a pier shaking stomp whilst the original Punk Poet John Cooper Clarke
will bring his social and cultural commentary to our stage.
In 1996, the UK music industry was buzzing for an act from a far away island. We are pleased to say that after a long hiatus, making the short journey across the Minch are the Hebrides finest Astrid
. Back with a new album this autumn, and what better place to first experience it than Loopallu. Looking to the future, we always try to bring you tomorrow’s stars today and we cannot contain how excited we are for HYYTS prospects, and we challenge you not to start dancing.
Last, but no means least for the first batch of the music acts to be unveiled; we turn to one of our most regular attendees and proudly introduce to you, the first outing of UNE
. Mark Radcliffe and Paul Langley present ‘new-age electronica for the cerebral raver’. Yep, you heard it here first.
The last word goes to those of many words and Literally Literary which we present in conjunction with Ullapool Book Festival and we are utterly thrilled to welcome crimewriter extraordinaire Val McDermid to Loopallu this September.
