Elephant Sessions and Capercaille head up the first names for the line-up for the Northern Meeting Park event.
Following a successful post Covid return for the event in 2021, The Gathering goes back to it’s original end of May slot for 2022, hoping to complete a hat trick of sellouts for the festival.
Elephant Sessions return to the event after their 2019 slot, defining themselves as ‘neo-trad’, their music combines the very best of trad, funk and electronica. As for their live sets, their 2018 Ironworks gig earned a 4 star review and was eloquently described as ‘a storming hooley’ by The Inverness Courier.
Making their debut at the festival is Capercaillie fronted by Karen Matheson who was described The Financial Times as the ‘leading light in the revival of Scottish folk music’. Capercaillie are proclaimed to be at the very top echelon of contemporary Celtic acts, illuminating the timeless allure of ancient traditions within today’s global musical context.
Other acts announced for the traditional music showcase are Peatbog Faeries, Manran, Torridon, Project Smok, Heron Valley, Heisk and the City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.
Event Producer Dougie Brown enthusiastically stated ‘We are over the moon to be announcing the line-up for the third Gathering Festival in 2022. Delivering this year’s event was extremely challenging but resulted in an incredibly special event for everyone involved from our staffand suppliersto artists and audience. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Inverness next May and enjoy some of the best music from the Highlands and Scotland!’
The Gathering 2022 will be held on the 28th of May.
